Testimonials
The senior manager talked through the benefits of the modules and said that all 5 of them were able to take learning from each of the modules and was open enough to say there was an element of cynicism from a few of the more experienced members which you quickly dispelled. The group identified the benefits to them as a team as follows:
-
Brought the SMT closer together
-
Improved communication between them
-
Working more closely together, identifying areas of duplication in their teams, finding efficiencies
-
Starting to plan more effectively as a group of 5 with one voice
-
More supportive of each other and aware of each other’s workloads and priorities
Leadership & Talent Development Manager, HR
First off, many thanks for running a great programme - I really did enjoy the 3 days and learnt a great deal.
Specific successes:
* I used the coaching toolkit (positive affirmations) on myself to deal with self-talk in the lead up to a presentation I gave to c. 50 senior managers within my Division.
* The programme has enabled me to get a clear focus on coaching my Team into raising our performance bar annually over the next 3 years which is a clear objective of our Division to achieve a 30% increase in contribution over that period.
* I also have in mind a clear approach to coaching a number of individual situations that are acting as interference to utilising the team's potential to achieve peak performance
* My first step will be to review what I have learnt, re-read the individual coaching tools to embed them so that I can coach in a natural way whilst utilising the appropriate tools

After module one I have decided to use some of the tools to be directly linked with my project and my personal goals (TMS). One of the key to success for my project is to create a collaborative working environment with export sales team, to penetrate important markets (Japan, UK, Germany, Australia). Since years, 2 of the sales managers did not want to share and follow strategic plans I was preparing for new product launch.
End of November I’ve decided to join one of the export sales manager for one exhibition in Japan and I used this opportunity to try a different approach with him. The use of filters was very helpful to define his brain operating level and state of mind. I discovered his self-esteem was very low due to a lack of technical knowledge that made him feel not confident.
After this, I was able to change my approach. Rather than convince him he should apply same strategy than others, I've asked him what would be the best strategy in Japan according to his long experience in this country. We discussed about how could we use my technical knowledge to support him. Meet him at his map of the world was really something i probably missed the previous years. We had very good relationship during this exhibition, for the first time after many years of collaboration.
Outcomes:
We worked together with our local Japanese distributor to put a strategy in place. One week after this exhibition we had our first order from Japan for this new product. He also asked me to support him in South Africa with the product launch in May 2013. (it never happened before). I think he was more on a cognitive level at the end of this week after being totally Guard (with me) for years.
Globally I would not say that situation is "perfect" but the use of learning tools from module one gave very positive outcomes.

The Mind Mapping and Four Ps technique is already paying dividends. I've used it a few times in preparation for meetings, leading to far more structured and comprehensive input from me.

Good listener
-
Asks questions to seek clarification over an issue
-
When talking through models you are able to relate it to my interests. This aides learning on my part and clarity of purpose
-
Your models are always practical and useful
-
You mind map to help remember points discussed. This has allowed me to recount previous meetings from several weeks ago with great accuracy.
-
As a coach, you always see challenges through my eyes, and my map of the world. This makes solutions more agreeable to me.
-
So far, the coaching you have given me has allowed me to "manage my line manager" through his map of the world, help me to solve a serious performance issue in the right way, given me confidence on how to tackle issues and keep my purpose positive despite the challenges and triggers along the way.
Well worth the investment from my company. I feel more confident and able to cope with issues pushed at me during these tough times.
Regional Banking Director
Had a really successful day yesterday using the mindset performance cycle that got a staff member to really identify what the problem was and how they could start to change the core influences to their negative mindset.
I wanted to express my thanks to you for the event I attended over the last two days; I can honestly say it has been the best work-related learning I have ever experienced in my career. The content, presentation and interaction were all first class and I really enjoyed all aspects of it.
Operations Director – BBC
It's been a while since I have wanted to write to you to say thanks for that training in Atlanta... Couple of years have passed and I'm still thinking of it almost daily... So, thanks again for that session and for being such an inspiration... Definitely the best training and trainer I had so far...
Operations Manager - Manufacturing Industry
Karl was able to spend a good portion of the day with my team (entire plant) and diagnosis several key points to our engagement challenge that we struggle to overcome. He had a debrief with my team and gave us several key areas to work on. He related it back to the situational leadership model and the performance zones which was excellent for me. It was a tremendous experience for the plant. I just completed a meeting with my team and the impact that his short visit has had on them is amazing. It is as though someone has turned a light switch on. I would highly recommend that we make this available to other locations
General Manager, Manufacturing Plant
I used some tools to illustrate my thoughts and the people did a great job of accepting the different style.
- Situational Leadership model
- 3 operating levels of the brain
- Mindset performance cycle
- giving feedback
It was a selection to have on the flipchart, but many times I could insert things from other models or tools that were covered during the LTO program.
After a couple of minutes they opened themselves and a very open session started. At the end of the first day - as a high point – we did the same feedback exercise as we did at the end of LTO Part 3!! Very interesting results and you could see the “memorable moments” popping in.
I was, and I am still really enthusiastic about what we achieved.
Thanks to LTOI
Manager Supply Chain
Just wanted to drop you a quick note to thank you for two great days of training.
The two workshops have really delivered a lot to think about and tools to not just improve how I work with and manage people but how I work and can improve myself.
Business Information & Systems Analyst
My first appraisal – I don’t know if you remember me saying but I had asked her to complete a strengths and weaknesses piece for me – which we gathered she would not complete. To my amazement she had completed it, not only that but she now has a development mentor.
My second appraisal – the individual that seems to be slipping in terms of being complacent. I used the employee cycle to which worked extremely well, I think he was more shocked to actually see he followed this cycle more then he realised. I explained we do not want him to be unconscious incompetent and that we want him to maintain his conscious competent state.
Not only did my appraisals work but I also took your advice in terms of the 3 legged stool – I have tried building a better relationship with my staff to actually find out if something makes them tick – then why?
I had another appraisal with a lady that lacks confidence and I was actually able to find out about a previous job that made her feel this way – I have been managing her for 6 months to which I never knew about this.
Thank you for all your support Karl – I have a lot to learn but all the learning you have given me will help me become a more successful manager

I personally found the day very insightful I really enjoyed the freedom of being able to explore where we’ve each been to in the last 6 months So thanks a million for your structure, challenge, helpful hints and candour
Senior Manager IT Development
I've reflected more on the Advanced Coaching course.
For me - it confirmed that I do some of this already, more importantly it gave me a structure to work within. It helped me challenge my own pre-conceptions about myself, and other people in my team.
Whats changed - well I'm more committed to coaching my immediate team - than ever before.
Senior Manager (Development & Support)
Not only I enjoy working with you but I truly believe the 2016-2019 future leaders program is great: addressing what we need, well structured, engaging, practical and effective (we see changes in behaviours of some individuals already:-).
Global Talent Development Director
We have all agreed it was the best course we have ever been on. We have all come from different back grounds with very different skill sets and have each experienced different types and styles of training, but never anything to the standard we received last week. It was absolutely outstanding, we have learnt so much not only about our own capabilities and individual coping strategies but also about our peers and teams and we are all looking forward to putting this into practise on a daily basis.
It was an amazing training course and we are all incredibly grateful for the opportunity
Helpdesk & Admin Manager, The Tunbridge Wells Hospital
Just wanted to say hello and let you know that the knowledge and support that you passed onto me has helped me win an Outperformance award for the Medical cluster at the Sales Conference in Faro in front of my boss, my bosses boss and my bosses, bosses boss!
European Commercial Manager
Having been involved in many such programmes along life's path, in one form or another, I can say with all honesty that the NUTS Consultancy deliver the most effective and professional development course for budding managers. Of course, this is wholly due to you and your excellent coaching skills.
PA / HR Administrator
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you once again for all the help and instruction you gave over the last few months during this course. I found it most enlightening and thoroughly enjoyed the way you projected the sessions. I know that I have certainly gained a great deal from it, and as such feel that I have matured during my transition, from my previous role to this current one. I hope to continue working with the companion you gave out and gain more benefits from it.
Automotive Manufacturer
I probably got more from the course than most of the other candidates and it has without doubt been life changing for me personally and professionally. [Wish I could have done it twenty years ago life would have been a whole lot easier.] I do think it was your delivery and style that clicked with me and I can’t thank you enough for that Karl it has been an absolute pleasure. Honestly, and I didn't used to talk like that until recently. Hope to see you in the future Karl again thanks alot.
Senior Account Director - MOD
Just want to say a big thank you for your guidance, knowledge, help and assistance through the programme
You are a delight to have met and your course is truly beneficial
Customer Services Manager
Globally my thoughts from the program are very positive. If I go back 6 months ago, it gives me more benefits than I was expecting. Of course, leading team is finally very helpful for my new role as I have to manage a group of 7 people.
This program was very interesting and motivating for the group. It was dynamic, interactive and nobody can tell it was boring! It is mainly due to your coaching style, don't change anything!
Commercial Manager, Product Manager & Regulatory Affairs
I am also going to use the Force Field with the whole team, for us to set the vision for the team and talk through the things that are pushing us towards this and things that are holding us back. This will enable us as a team to see where our skill gaps are and work together to be the best we can be.
Complaints Team Manager
Karl was excellent. He was very forthright in his observations, got the mood of the session spot on and facilitated some excellent discussion and debate. He was exactly what we needed. I would thoroughly recommend and advocate his use wider across the Group.
Supplier Management Adviser, HR Resourcing & Engagement
Anyway....wanted to say a HUGE WHOPPA THANK YOU to you both for what was one of the very best training courses I have been on during my 17 ½ year career with the Building Society. Also....having now completed all courses on the Level 2 Management Development I can honestly say this is the only one that a] I learned anything new on, b] inspired me, c] made me actually feel like I am a Manager and, d] I was sorry it came to an end. The Leadership skills course was good of course but let’s face it, who can't enjoy a course where you make & race rafts like crazed loons and run around the countryside in the dark!
